Comments:
Thank you for your time and assistance with the unannounced renewal inspection conducted today, March 6, 2018. The on-site inspection was from 10:45 a.m. to 2:05 p.m. On this date, at the time of arrival, there were five children in the care of the provider (14 points). There were a total of 11 children enrolled in the program. The exception to compliance were noted on the violation notice and the risk rating was noted on the supplemental page. The records of five children, the provider, one assistant, and one household member were reviewed. There was no medication being administered, which is the policy of the provider. The provider and one child were interviewed. Lunch was determined to meet USDA guidelines and consisted of pork loin, cheese potatoes, carrots, bananas, crackers, and milk . They children enjoyed painting a St. Patrick Day craft. Some items reviewed/observed included: required posted information, water temperature, first aid kit, emergency supplies, temperature of the fridge and freezer, emergency preparedness plan, outdoor play area, choice time, diaper changing procedures, hand washing procedures, lunch, and nap time. Please contact me if you have questions concerning this inspection, the licensing standards, and/or if I may be of assistance to you (540) 280-0742.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-350-E
Description: Based on measurement taken with a digital thermometer and verification from the provider, the temperature of the water was over 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Evidence: 1. The temperature of the hot water from the bathroom faucet used by the children measured to be 139.7 degrees Fahrenheit. 2. The provider confirmed the thermometer read 139.7 degrees.

Plan of Correction: The provider will have her husband turn down the temperature of the hot water heater. She will buy a thermometer so she can check the temperature herself.
