Several e-mails have been sent regarding the new requirement for fingerprinting and can be found on our website at under "Bulletins" for Current providers. Contact the Office of Background Investigations at 804-726-7884 to get the Fieldprint Code for your family day home. Once the code is obtained, go online to and schedule an appointment to go have the electronic fingerprinting done. The locations are listed on the website. Results will be e-mailed to you. This replaces the Virginia State Police criminal history record. All caregivers and household members over the age of 18 must complete fingerprinting no later than September 30, 2018. Background checks are now valid for five years from the original date the check was completed

A compliance history is in no way a rating for a facility.

The online compliance history includes only information after July 1, 2003. In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal. An adverse action is not final until a provider has exhausted or waived all due process rights. For compliance history prior to July 1, 2003, or information regarding the status of pending adverse actions, please contact the Licensing Inspector listed in the facility's information. The Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) is not responsible for any errors in or omissions from the compliance history information.
