An initial inspection and home tour for licensing occurred today from 10:00am-10:45am. The home is a one story home located in Virginia Beach. The applicant has a Bachelors degree in Psychology and a Masters degree in Human Services and meets the qualification requirements to be a licensed family day home provider. Children were not in care, thus those standards regarding the care and supervision of children were not able to be reviewed. Written policies and background checks were reviewed. The physical plant and outdoor play space was inspected. First aid supplies and forms to be utilized were reviewed during this inspection. A sample child's record was reviewed. Provider and household member records were reviewed with the application. Areas of noncompliance are detailed in the violation notice and were discussed with the provider at the conclusion of this inspection. Standard #: 22VAC40-111-800-A Description: Based on record review it was determined the provider did not ensure that the written emergency preparedness and response plan contained all of the required components. Evidence: 1. There was no emergency care provider identified. 2. There were no emergency relocation points identified. Plan of Correction: Provider will designate an emergency care provider and emergency relocation points.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-270-A Description: Based on interview and observation it was determined the provider did not ensure that firearms of every type and purpose were stored unloaded in a locked container, compartment, or cabinet, and apart from ammunition. Evidence: 1. The provider showed inspector the locked safe where a firearm and ammunition is stored on a high shelf inaccessible to children. 2. The provider stated that the firearm and ammunition are in the same safe. Plan of Correction: The provider will ensure that the firearm and ammunition are stored in separate locked containers.
