12/18/2018-A complaint investigation was begun in response to an allegation being received in our office. 1/10/2019-Based on statements fro the provider and another interviewed person, the preponderance of evidence supports the allegation. The complaint is valid for not admitting custodial parents to the home. Parents may not be required to provide advance notice of their arrival, for any reason. If you have any questions regarding this investigation, please contact me at 703-479-4678 or at Sarah.Marbert@dss.virginia.gov.
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-70-A Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on provider statement and an additional interview, custodial parents are not admitted to the home at any time children are in care. Evidence: The Provider stated that parents are asked to call or text the day care in advance of arrival, in order to have the child ready to leave. Parents have waited for 5-10 minutes outside the home, at arrival when they have not called or texted prior to arrival for pick up. Plan of Correction: Parents were allowed in the home. I answer the door very quickly now. The doorbell is broken so they have to knock loudly, but they are allowed to come into the house.
