54.1-3408 Provider must be MAT certified to administer prescription medication.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted beginning at 9:15 a.m. and ending at 11:15 a.m. with the provider and assistant. There were nine children in care ranging in age from seventeen months to four years old, twenty points. There were three resident children present ages seven, six and two and the assistant's two children, ages eight for a total of twenty-five points. Resident children and the assistant's children were present due to the weather-related school delay and went upstairs at the beginning of the inspection. Children were observed participating in lesson. Younger children had free play with their choice of toys. After lessons, children created an art project based upon the lesson of the day. All children then had music time that included a dance to 'Baby Shark', other songs, instruments and sensory toys. Four children's records, three caregiver records and one household member record were reviewed. The provider is no longer Medication Administration Training (MAT) certified and cannot administer medication to children in care. If you have any questions regarding today's inspection, please contact Stephanie Reed at (540) 272-6558 or S.Reed@dss.virginia.gov.
