Licensing Inspector arrived at 9:00 and departed at 10:30 a.m. At the time of the tour, there were 68 preschool age children in care with eight staff. Children were observed participating in circle time, doing arts & craft activities, outdoor play and center based activities.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on a review of information on file at the facility, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that there was the name, address and telephone number of a person to be notified in an emergency kept at the center. Evidence: There was no emergency information available for staff #1 who was on duty with the children at the time of the inspection. Plan of Correction: Facility management will have staff member complete an emergency information form and place it in the record at the facility.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on inspection of the physical plant, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials are kept in a locked place. Evidence: The janitor's closet near the office for the site coordinator was unlocked at the onset of the inspection. This closet contains cleaning fluids and other items used by the janitorial staff. Plan of Correction: Closet was immediately locked.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-G Description: Based on a review of medication in the medication box, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that all medication dispensed from a pharmacy is maintained in the original, labeled container. Evidence: The Albuterol inhaler for child #4 was not in the box that it was dispensed from the pharmacy in. Plan of Correction: Family Involvement Specialist will contact parent to have the original box brought in.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-F Description: Based on inspection of the postings at the facility, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that a menu listing foods to be served for meals and snacks during the current one week period was posted. Evidence: The posted menu was for the month of March and the last day posted was March 27th. Plan of Correction: Current week is on the April menu which was posted during the inspection.
