22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 10:30am-12:45pm. Upon arrival there were 36 children in care with 8 staff present. A sample of 2 staff records were reviewed in addition to 3 medications. Children were observed preparing for outside play, on the preschool playground. Toileting procedures was also observed.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-C Description: Based on observation the center failed to ensure emergency shelter-in-place maps were posted in a location conspicuous to staff and children on each floor of each building. Evidence: The preschool building did not have a map with the emergency shelter-in-place. Plan of Correction: The director will add the shelter-in-place locations to the map.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on a record review the center failed to ensure each staff person had a satisfactory child protective services central registry check within 30 days of employment. Evidence: Staff #1, hired August 2014, did not have the results of a central registry check. Plan of Correction: This was an oversight as the check had been stamped in. It will be sent back in to follow-up with the results.
