63.2 Facilities and Programs..
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 9:00am-9:55am. There were 58 school age children directly supervised by 3 staff. The physical plant, 4 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, and emergency supplies, were inspected. Children were observed playing independently. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-350-E-5 Description: Based on direct observation, for children from the age of eligibility to attend public school through eight years, there was not one staff member for every 18 children. Evidence: Upon arrival to the center at approximately 9:00am, a total of 56 children were observed being supervised by three staff. Two additional children arrived during the inspection, thus increasing the total number of children to 58. At approximately 9:45am, a fourth staff member arrived to assist in the supervision of children. Plan of Correction: We will ask for additional staff to cover ratio on teacher workdays.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on medication review, the center did not adhere to their medication policies and procedures when outdated medication was kept on site. Evidence: Medication that was maintained on site for Child 4 was observed with an expiration date of March 2015. Plan of Correction: We will give the medication back to the parents and have them bring in new medication.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-G Description: Based on medication review, the center maintained a child's medication on site in which the prescription label was not attached to the medication. Evidence: An emergency medication was observed for Child 5 and the prescription label was not attached to the medication. Plan of Correction: We will give the medication back to the mom to get the medication label.
