Comments:
Today an unannounced monitoring visit was conducted with Director-Mrs. Mardee Wimmer. This visit took place in the mid-morning between 11:00-1pm two buildings were observed with a total of 50 children with 6 staff within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed having morning snack, actively engaged in self-selected activities such as counting, sewing, puzzles, and in transition for outdoor play, lunch and dismissal. Lunch today consist of lasagna, tossed salad, wheat bread and butter and milk. Positive interactions were observed. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children records, fire drill log, menu, medications and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-H
Description: Based on observation, one staff purse was accessible to children. Evidence: Staff purse were found in building #1 in a unlocked closet accessible.

Plan of Correction: Director immediately removed the purse and placed it in area inaccessible to children.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-E
Description: Based on observation of the medication, 3 medications were found not labeled with the child's name. Evidence: 3 medications were found inside of a ziplock bag however it was not labeled with the child's name.

Plan of Correction: Director labeled the medication during this inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D
Description: Based on a review of the monthly evacuation drills, the center did not have documentation of a monthly drill for the following months. Evidence: No documentation of a fire drill for March 2015 in building #1 No documentation of a fire drill for February 2015 in building #2

Plan of Correction: Director stated that they will make sure that a fire drill is conducted in both buildings for the month of April.
