Comments:
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced renewal inspection April 21, 2015 from approximately 10:00am to 12:30pm. The following ratios were observed with a total of 32 children present during the inspection: Toddlers & Twos - 3 children with 1 staff Twos & Threes - 9 children with 1 staff Threes & Fours - 10 children with 1 staff Fours & Fives - 10 children with 1 staff An additional staff member was available to provide assistance when needed along with a member of management. During the inspection the children were observed playing outside where they played with balls, climbed on play equipment, picked flowers, played games and engaged in make believe play. Once the children returned to the classrooms, the licensing inspector observed books being read to the children, children playing with toys, staff members holding and comforting children, washing their hands and taking bathroom breaks, and children eating lunch. The children bring their own lunches. After lunch, the children transitioned into naptime. Children's assessment were reviewed as the center prepared for parent teacher conferences. All areas of the center including classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, kitchen, and playgrounds were inspected. The center was equipped with toys and supplies and items were available to the children. The following information was reviewed: emergency supplies, injury reports, fire and shelter-in-place drills, daily attendance, parent agreements, and staff training information. The director stated medication is not administered at this time. Transportation is not provided. Last documented health inspection: 11/20/2014 Last documented fire inspection: 10/06/14 During the inspection, four children records and four employees? records were reviewed. The risk profile tool will be used for the licensing recommendation once all of the necessary paperwork is received by the licensing department. The renewal application was received prior to the expiration of the current license. Until the new license is received, the provider is legally operating.
