An unannounced monitoring inspection of the facility and records was conducted from 11:00am ? 1:00pm. There were 12 children present in the morning session and 14 children present for the afternoon session age 3 years. There were two staff present during the morning and afternoon sessions. Three children?s records were reviewed. Emergency contact information was reviewed for the two staff present. Interviews were conducted with children and staff present. Staff records are stored at a central location and will be reviewed at a later date. Children were observed in circle time, story time, morning snack, transitions, bus arrival and departure, lunch, restroom routines, hand washing, nap time, teacher and self-directed activities. The inspector reviewed as current insurance documentation, fire and health inspection and emergency evacuation drills. A walking tour of the outside play space was conducted. One medication was reviewed. The following violations were observed and will appear on the violation notice: No emergency evacuation procedures were available on the bus.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-H Description: Based on observation and interview the center failed to ensure that the center shall prepare a document containing local emergency contact information, potential shelters, hospitals, evacuation routes, etc., that pertain to each site frequently visited or of routes frequently driven. This document must b kept in the vehicles that centers use to transport children to and from the center. Evidence: 1 - When asked bus driver 1 was unable to respond to the question where is your emergency evacuation information. 2 - When asked bus driver 1 confirmed that there was not a written emergency plan on the bus. 3 - When asked bus driver 1 stated that she was dropping off twelve children to the child care center. She further stated that she was picking up eight children to take to their homes. Plan of Correction: Center management will ensure that the proper emergency information is obtained and maintained on the vehicle.
