An unannounced monitoring visit was conducted. Four classroom spaces were in operation with 67 children present and direct care staff in ratios for supervision. The center uses the Reggio-Emilia approach using arts, principles of respect and responsibility and incorporating nature into the curriculum. Children were observed in circle time, reading, center activities, a soccer special visitor and preparation for lunch. Lunch served today was turkey meatloaf, mashed potatoes, fruit and bread. Food is catered off-site. Three emergency medications were present with complete authorizations. Six staff have Medication Administration Training (MAT) certification, all staff have Daily health Observation and background checks are all up to date. Emergency preparation for supplies and drills is current. Areas of non-compliance are identified in this report. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-50-A Description: Based on observation, 3 children's information was posted and not kept confidential without written parent permission. Evidence: Three children's allergies were posted near the food prep area and the center director conformed that written permission from the parents had not been obtained prior to posting the information. Plan of Correction: Parents have initialed on displayed notes.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B Description: Based on observation, the diaper pad was not sanitized after use. Evidence: The Licensing Inspector observed a staff member completing a diaper change and the pad was not sanitized. The center uses paper to cover the pad and the staff member stated that she did not realize it must also be sanitized between uses. Plan of Correction: Sanitizing steps were taken immediately.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-M Description: Based on record review, one of ten injury forms was incomplete. Evidence: The staff member did not complete the "Future Action To Prevent Reoccurrence" Plan of Correction: Staff member who completed initial report completed missing part.
