An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 11:00 a.m. to 2:40p.m. At the time of entrance the following adult to child ratios were observed: 9 children, 4 to 5 years old, with 1 staff 13 children, two years old, with 2 staff 6 infants 6 to 7 months old, with 2 staff 7 older infants, 9 to 14 months old, with 2 staff 13 toddlers, 1 to 2 years old, with 3 staff 22 Two year old children, with 2 staff The records sample size consisted of 6 children?s records and 8 recently hired staff records. Children were observed eating lunch which consisted of cheese quesadillas, mixed fruit cocktail, green beans, and milk, being read to from children's literature, singing songs, and resting quietly at nap time. Infants were observed sleeping on cribs, being held and bottle fed, playing on rugs with a variety of toys, crawling and toddling. Hand washing, sanitizing procedures, diapering and restroom routines were also observed. Medication administration was not observed during today's inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice. Thank you for your time during today's inspection. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of assistance. The licensee provided verbal responses to the violations during the inspection, which were entered on to the violation notice by the Licensing inspector.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-E Description: Based on observation, the licensee did not ensure that prepared infant bottles are labeled and dated. Evidence: The licensing inspector observed 3 frozen baggies of milk in the infant room freezer and 3 bottles in the infant room refrigerator which were labeled with the child's name, but not dated. Plan of Correction: Staff stated that, effective immediately, they would check for dates as milk is brought into the center and label them with the received date at the time it is brought in if necessary to ensure that they are dated.
