- Technical Assistance:
1. Reminded staff that no shelter-in-place drills have been completed this school year, 2015-2016. 2. Staff advised to alert school personnel when building maintenance is needed, to include, peeling paint. Areas of potential non-compliance pointed out.
Conducted an unannounced renewal inspection. Observed 26 children + 3 direct-care staff. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. Children were observed arriving to the program, having indoor free-play, doing homework, and quiet reading. In cooperation with the school curriculum, children have 20 minutes of independent reading time 4 days per week. Staff cheerfully greeted each child as they arrived to the program. According to the posted menu, the snack today will include yogurt + pineapple. Children may drink water from the fountain, as desired. The program areas were found to be clean, safeguarded appropriately, and well supplied with equipment for the children. No medications reported to be on-site. Required documents were posted. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on records reviewed, it was determined that the center did not implement a minimum of 2 shelter-in-place drills per year. Evidence: 1 of 2 drills was documented as completed during the 2014-2015 school year. Plan of Correction: -Site management team was inserviced on proper procedures for emergency drills -Site director will ensure emergency drills are completed.
