An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today by the licensing inspectors today. Some but not all standards were checked and required information was posted. Observations were done during the preschool program. There was no medication on site for children in care. A sample of staff and children's records were reviewed on site.
staff/child ratios observed:
4 -5 years 2:13 The Lucky Ducks were working on St. Patrick's Day art that included painting/printing shamrocks. They were also playing with lincoln logs, , doing self directed art, making puppets with popcscle sticks and tissue paper, and stringing beads. Art materials are ready available to the children. Staff were very positive when a child wrote his name.
3-4 yrs 2:9 The Terrific Turtles have a hamster in the classroom. They were playing with school bus figures, were in the housekeeping area, using the phone, in dress up (princess outfit) and were doing self directed art that included cutting, using glue and coloring. They made a "teddy turtle" mascot to take home. They wrote about, included pictures and added it to their journal. Children were encouraged to use their words. Circle time included singing the name song, the days of the week, the month, the counting calendar and the job chart.
Both classrooms are well equipped with a variety of age and stage materials for the children.
