Today an unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted beginning at 11am. There were 44 children present today in the summer camp program with 22 staff. Children were observed in various classrooms of small groups having imaginary play time, tech time, playing board games, making dinosaur skeletons out of wood shaped bones, making quicksand and eating lunch. Staff were observed interacting and redirecting children as necessary. Ten staff records were reviewed for daily health observation training, first aid/cpr training, MAT (medication administration training) and emergency contact information. Five children's records were also reviewed in addition to 5 medications and authorizations. This inspection, including the exit interview, ended at 1pm. Should you have any questions, please call.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-K Description: Based on observation and discussion with staff, tables used for lunch and snack are not being sanitized before and after each use. Evidence: When procedures for disinfecting tables before and after lunch was explained to licensing inspector, it was stated that each group of staff and children who use the tables clean them when finished by throwing away trash before the next group comes in for lunch. No sanitizing cleaning methods, as stated by staff, are being used in between lunch shifts. Plan of Correction: We will start sanitizing the tables before and after each lunch shift and continue to sanitize and disinfect the tables at the end of the day.
