The level of mulch on the playground could not be determined today due to yesterday's very heavy rains.
An unannounced full renewal inspection was conducted today. There were 74 children in care, with a total of 13 staff members assigned to their direct supervision. The children were observed engaged in a very large variety of hands-on classroom activities, attending Science class, playing outside, eating snack, and creating art projects. This inspection was completed between approximately 10:00 am and 11:40 am. Thank you for meeting with me today. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on a review of children's records, it was determined that two records are not complete. Evidence: Child record #4 and #5 do not include documentation showing that a staff person has viewed each child's original proof of identification. Plan of Correction: The documentation will be completed and placed in each child's file.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-A Description: Based on a review of staff training records, it was determined that two staff did not complete all required components of First Day Orientation Training. Evidence: Staff #2 and #3 have not yet completed "Recognizing Child Abuse and Neglect" training. Each of these employees began employment in September, 2016. Plan of Correction: They were both given the link to the online training. I will make sure they both complete the training today.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A Description: Based on a review of children's medications, it was determined that one authorization was not completed on an acceptable form. Evidence: One child's medication authorization was completed on the local public schools' medication authorization form. The wording on this form specifies that only employees of the public school system are permitted to administer the medication. Plan of Correction: The parent will be asked to have our medication authorization form completed.
