Sex Offender Registry (HB 920) House Bill 920 changes the definition of ?offense? in ? 63.2-1719 in the Code of Virginia to include convictions that result in the requirement to register with the Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry or any similar registry in any other state. This legislation prohibits sex offenders from being employed by or operating a child welfare agency. It is recommended but not required that providers search the Virginia Sex Offender Registry to determine if an individual is listed on this registry, and print out the results of the search. The list of crimes that convictions of which require registration in the Sex Offender Registry is found at: New Barrier Crimes Lists for Child Day Programs The Office of the Attorney General has revised the list of Barrier Crimes for Child Day Programs, which is attached and also found at: Fingerprint Checks (HB 1570, SB1168, budget bill) Fingerprint checks will be required next year. All employees, volunteers, applicants, providers, and house hold members in licensed, registered, and regulated child care programs must undergo a fingerprint background check by July 1, 2017. (HB1570 and SB1169 2015, budget bill) All individuals required to have a background check must submit to a fingerprint check. Further details about this process will be provided next year.

The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection Friday, October 14, 2016 from 11:00am to 1:40pm. The children were observed eating lunch, listening to a story and then getting ready for rest time. The infants were observed playing on the floor, in bouncy seats and napping. A diaper change was also observed. A formal observation was completed with the Preschool-Older's Threes and Pre-K. Lunch consisted of tacos with lettuce, tomatoes and cheese, carrots, apples with cinnamon and milk. The lunch menu was posted. Interviews were held with staff throughout the inspection, and the inspector interacted with children in each classroom when appropriate. All classrooms and playgrounds were inspected today as well as the facility?s mini buses. Per the director the school age playground and swing set on the preschool playground are not in use at this time. Three children?s records and two employee records were reviewed during this inspection. Medication is being administered and was reviewed. The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected. Last emergency drill: 9/28/2016 Last shelter-in-place drills: 2/1/2016 & 6/14/2016 Last fire inspection: 6/14/2016 Last health inspection: 7/11/2016 Total enrollment today: 56 Today, the following child to staff ratios were observed: Infants ?8:2 Toddlers ?7:1 Twos ? 12:2 Threes ?7:1 Older Three's -9:1 Pre-K ?13:2 School Age ?not present The violations from the previous inspections were checked for corrections.
