Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on December 21st 2016 between 10:30am and 12:30pm. There were 104 children in the direct care of 26 staff members. Staff are consistently engaged with the children. Children were observed learning letters, reading, preparing for lunch, eating lunch, participating in a craft project, and getting ready to nap. The center offers numerous special activities including Spanish, art, music, and technology. A sampling of staffing records, children's records, the first aid kit, the emergency drills, medications, authorizations, the physical space, and supervision were observed and inspected. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation the center did not maintain a safe condition in the infant room. Evidence: In the infant room, a pacifier attached to a stuffed animal was present at the foot of the crib where a child was sleeping. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that no stuffed animals are present in a crib with a child.

Plan of Correction: It was removed immediately and in the future no infant will sleep with a wubbanub in their crib.
