The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 10:00 am to 12:15 pm. The children were observed engaged in a variety of activities ranging from, reading books, counting during large group, and playing at the on-site gym. The infants were observed being feed and playing with toys on the floor. Lunch consisted of beef-a-roni, green beans, apple slices and milk. The lunch menu was posted. Interviews were held with staff throughout the inspection, and the inspector interacted with children in each classroom when appropriate. All classrooms and playgrounds were inspected today as well as the facility?s mini buses. Three children?s records and two employee records were reviewed during this inspection. Medication is being administered and was reviewed. A sample of 10 of injury reports were reviewed as well as the center?s injury prevention plan which is updated each month. The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected. Last emergency drill: 12/21/2016 Last shelter-in-place drill: 2/25/2016 Last fire inspection: 04/22/2016 Last health inspection: 4/14/2016 Total enrollment: 155 Today, the following child to staff ratios were observed: Infants I ? 6:2 Infants II-8:2 Toddlers ?9:2 Early Preschool (Twos) ? 14:2 Threes ?16:2 Pre-K ?20;2 School Age ?not present The violations from the previous inspections were checked for corrections. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-B Description: Based on observation on 01/19/2017, the center did not ensure that on the school age playground the resilient surfacing shall comply with the minimum safety standards. EVIDENCE: There was less than 6 inches of mulch under the climbing and exercise equipment on the trail area of the school age playground. Plan of Correction: Not available online.
