Staffing records are reviewed at a separate time at the main SACC office.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on February 6, 2017 between 11:15am and 12:40pm. There were 50 children in the direct care of 5 staff members. Children were observed participating in various running games in the gymnasium, preparing for, and eating lunch. The staff were observed to be consistently engaged with the children. A sampling of children's records, medications, the first aid kit, medication administration training, evacuation drills, the physical space, and supervision were observed and inspected. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on observation, medication kept on site did not have the medication form completely filled out. Evidence: A medication that is intended for long term housing at the center, did not have a physicians signature. Without physician's signature, medication can not stay at a site longer than 10 days. Plan of Correction: I will give the parents a short term medication form and will make sure they have the doctor complete the new form with the information regarding when the medication is to be administered.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-G Description: Based on observation and interview, medication was not kept in it's original container. Evidence: A medication on site has the appropriate documentation from the physician, but the container has a discard date of March 2016. The center director stated that the medication must have been placed in an old container because it is shared with the school. Plan of Correction: Will give the medication back and let her know i cannot receive the medication with out the original bottle.
