Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today. Observed 19 children directly supervised by 2 staff members. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. A sample of 4 children's records and 3 staff records/posted trainings were reviewed. The physical plant, emergency supplies and procedures and 2 accident reports were also reviewed. There were no medications reported to be on site. The children were engaged in various activities, to include: finishing lunch and hand washing routines. Accountability routines were also observed as the children lined up and went outside to play on the playground. The room was decorated with activities completed throughout the month revolving around the 1990's and "Adventures in Time". A game of Jeopardy, 90's fashion, video games and flip phones. The children were going to eat cup cakes that they had made and decorated earlier in the day for snack. Areas of non compliance are identified in this report. The exit interview was conducted with site staff. Inspection conducted 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based upon observation, cleaning chemicals were not locked as required. Evidence: Bleach wipes were found unlocked in a cabinet above the refrigerator and a bottle of hand sanitizer marked keep out of reach of children was observed sitting in the window behind the staff desk.

Plan of Correction: Teacher on site stated that the new locking cabinets were ordered and waiting to be installed.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-E
Description: Based upon records reviewed, required monthly drill was not documented as required. Evidence: The required monthly fire evacuation drill conducted in January 2017 was not documented on the drill log hanging on the information board between the classrooms.

Plan of Correction: Staff on site stated that the drill was conducted but they had forgotten to write it down.
