An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, from approximately 10:00am until 2:45pm. Some, but not all, licensing standards were inspected.
The following ratios were observed:
Infants: Joey's (Infants) 11 children with three staff- Children were being held, spoken to frequently and observed while eating.
Toddlers -Joey's II - five children with one staff - Children were playing with musical instruments and having snack.
2's - Bumble Bees - five children with one staff - Children were listening to stories and preparing for lunch.
3's - June Bugs - twenty children with three staff - Children were building with legos, practicing their cutting skills, measuring items, and playing a card memory game. They are growing butterflies and learning about the four seasons.
Pre-K- Crickets - sixteen children with two staff- Children were having story time, discussing "What flowers need to grow" and learning the letter "Vv".
Some of the children were outside playing when the inspector arrived. Once indoors, classrooms were observed.
Out of twenty-one staff , thirteen staff are currently certified in first aid and CPR.
A practice shelter-in-place drill was conducted 1/15/17.
Pasta, cheese and ham casserole, peas, applesauce, and milk
Four children's records and five staff records were inspected.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-A Description: Based on review of documentation for fire inspections , the center did not ensure an annual fire inspection was conducted.
The last fire inspection was conducted 12/07/15. Management contacted the fire official and scheduled an appointment for an inspection today at 3:00pm.
Plan of Correction: Per Center: The inspection will take place today at 3pm. All systems including fire/exit lights are in working condition. In the future we will plan ahead with day light savings time being a marker to call Richmond City Fire Department for annual fire inspection. (Last inspection was completed when addition was completed in Dec 2015)
