The licensing inspector conducted a subsidy health and safety inspection on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm to determine the center's compliance with the subsidy requirements. During this inspection, the Director was present and assisted the licensing inspector throughout this inspection. The children were observed by the licensing inspector in the various classroom settings. The census for today's inspection consisted of 33 school-aged children. The staff to child ratios were deemed in compliance. The licensing inspector observed the children in their classroom settings working on a variety of activities to include: engaging in free play with peers, completing homework, reading, building with blocks, coloring and drawing, playing the Wii game system, and participating in a Beauty and the Beast craft activity. The staff were observed by the licensing inspector providing age appropriate supervision and addressing the children's overall needs. Interviews were held with staff throughout the inspection. Additionally, when appropriate the licensing inspector interacted with the children in each of the classrooms. The classrooms were equipped with age appropriate toys, and supplies. All classrooms, bathrooms, and the kitchen area were inspected today. The children's snack today consisted of granola bars and milk. During this inspection, the required posting were reviewed and determined to be in compliance. The following information was reviewed: daily attendance, emergency supplies, menu, injury reports, fire and shelter-in-place drills, liability insurance policy, children's allergies, and emergency preparedness plan and lockdown procedures. The emergency preparedness plan was reviewed on 09/15/16. Medication is being administered; medications, and written authorizations were reviewed for the center's compliance. There were four children?s records and four staff's records reviewed during this inspection. During this inspection, the licensing inspector reviewed each of the center's staff certificate of completion for the Virginia Preservice training and First Aid/CPR. There are multiple staff with current MAT certification and Daily Health Observation training on site. The violation from the previous inspection was checked for correction, there were no repeat violations during today's inspection. There were no subsidy requirements violations cited during today's inspection.
The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected.
