Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was completed on 5/18/2017. There were 15 children were in care at the center, ages three years through six years old with three staff supervising the children. The inspector arrived at the program at 9:00 A.M. and departed the program at 111:30 A.M. No new staff member's and three children's records were reviewed. All policies and procedures were reviewed and emergency supplies. Informal interviews were held with all staff members and there were interactions with most of the children. A walk-through of the center and house was done. The children were observed in an inside activity morning gathering time, snack, free play, outside time. Discussion with staff about: standards, and about lowering the age on the license to 2 years.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-B
Description: Based on review of staff policies, the center failed to ensure that all written policies were provided to the staff by the end of the first day of supervising children. Evidence: 1. The inspector review the staff policies and found that the following policies were missing: procedures for identifying where children are at all time, procedures for supervising a child that arrives after a scheduled classes or activity has begun and procedures for confirming an absence when a child's arrives from another program.

Plan of Correction: The administration has added the missing policies and procedures to the staff handbook and will ensures that all staff receive a copy.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-520-B
Description: Based on review of authorizations, the center failed to ensure that all authorizations has the required information. Evidence: 1. The inspector found that the sunscreen blanket authorization from did not have the adverse reaction asked on the form.

Plan of Correction: The administration will have missing adverse reaction portion to the form and will begin to use the new form.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-520-D
Description: Based on review of authorizations, the center failed to ensure that all authorizations has the required information. Evidence: 1. The inspector found that the insect repellent blanket authorization from did not have the adverse reaction asked on the form.

Plan of Correction: The administration will have the missing adverse reaction portion to the form and will begin to use the new form.
