- Technical Assistance:
An unannounced Health/Safety and Subsidy inspection was conducted on June 7, 2017 at 9:00 a. m. and concluded at 1:30 p. m. The inspector met with the program director and standards were reviewed. The following staff-to-child ratios and activities were observed: Infant A (6wk-8m) Seven infants with two staff. The infants were having free play with one infant napping. Staff were observed on the floor playing and interacting with the infants. Infant B (8m-16m) Twelve infants with three staff. The infants were having free play with one infant napping. The staff were on the floor playing and interacting with the infants. Toddler (16m-24m) Twelve children with three staff. The children were observed having free play outside. Two Years There were 17 children with four staff. The children and staff were observed having circle time and singing songs. Preschool IA (2 1/2 years-3 years) There were 18 children with three staff. The children were having bathroom time and cleaning up classroom to prepare for an art activity. Preschool 2A (Young 3 years) There were 16 children with two staff. The children and staff were observed playing with musical instruments, computer, home living and art. Preschool 2B (3-4 years) There were 20 children with two staff. The children were having crayon art, blocks, home living, letter stamps, and computer station. Pre-K (4-5 years) There were 27 children with three staff. The children were observed playing in home living, computer station, blocks, books, dolls and doll house. Six staff records were reviewed. Five children records reviewed. Five children medications reviewed. Several staff are trained in MAT (medication administration trained). Conversations were held with several children and staff. The most recent evacuation drill was documented on 5/23/17. The most recent shelter-in-place drill was documented on 2/14/17.
Standard #: VENDSUB-000-006-B Description: Based on review of children records the center did not have all allergy plans in place. Evidence: On 6/7/17, child #1 did not have an allergy plan in place although parent had stated they had an allergy. Plan of Correction: I will have parent bring in correct form.
Standard #: VENDSUB-000-012-D Description: Based on review of the staff orientation sheet the center is not training staff in all specific topics, Evidence: On 6/7/17, the staff had not received training in Emergency Preparedness Plan specific to lock down, prevention of shaken baby syndrome, prevention of sudden infant death syndrome and use of safe sleeping practices, transportation and food allergies. Plan of Correction: Will have a staff meeting to give staff this required training. The documentation orientation sheet will be updated.
