- Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today included medication when transporting; physical environment and record keeping. We also discussed updating the training and names listed on the emergency procedures as documented in the health binder.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 1:00 - 3:30 pm. There were 50 children present. Ratios were maintained. Outdoor areas were not inspected today. If you have any questions, please contact me at email@example.com
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: During today's inspection, some areas and equipment of the center was observed to not be maintained in a clean and safe condition. Evidence: 1. During naptime, six of nine toddlers were observed to be sleeping or resting with blankets covering their faces. 2. In the infant room, the dorm-sized refrigerator (top) was observed to have the door not securely closed. There was also a large amount of frost on the ice cube tray area. 3. In the kitchen, the wheels on the center refrigerator was observed to be noticeably dirty. Plan of Correction: 1. We will re-train the staff member who was present when she returns on Monday. 2. The staff will be reminded to make sure the door is closed each time it is opened, and it will be defrosted by the middle of next week. 3. I will point it out to the cook.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A Description: Based on a review of medications today, some required record keeping was found not to be complete. Evidence: 1. One of the medication authorizations for Child # 1 was not signed by the parent. 2. The medication authorizations for Child # 2 did not have a parent signature. 3. Although an emergency allergy medication was prescribed for Child 33, it was not present. The 2nd medication indicated on the allergy action plan was present, but not the first step or note from the physician. Plan of Correction: I will have the parents sign those authorizations today, and speak to the parents today about the medication as prescribed n the Allergy Action Plan.
