An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 2:40pm-4:30pm. At the time of entrance, 62 children were in care with 4 staff members present. Children were observed during snack time, engaged in group activities, homework and outdoor play time. A selection of children records, staff information, medications and other documents were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-40-I Description: Based on interview, the center did not develop written procedures for injury prevention. Evidence: 1. Staff member B stated she did not have an injury prevention plan and that it had not been updated annually. Plan of Correction: I will ask my supervisor for the written procedures for injury prevention.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on review, the center's procedures for administering medication did not include methods to prevent use of outdated medication. Evidence: 1. Child A had a medication in the medication locked box that had a discard date of 09/06/2017 on the prescription label, but had an authorization form to give the medication through 08/24/2018. Plan of Correction: I will return the medication to the parent.
