Discussion was held on the topics of current enrollment, current staffing, and a review of changes to background checks with regards to expiration dates, new fingerprint checks to be done through Fieldprint of Virginia & Office of Background Investigations (OBI), new sworn disclosure statements, and to obtain CPS checks from other states as listed from the past five years. The roll out for the new fingerprint checks occurred on January 22, 2018. All finger print checks for existing employees must be started for each according to the established time table and then completed by September 30, 2018. New employees will not be allowed to start until an ?Eligibility Letter? is on file.
The following inspection took place between the hours of 10 am through 1 pm. Today, I met with the Staff of the Loudoun Valley Community Center located in the town of Purcellville, Virginia. At the start of this unannounced monitoring inspection there were a total of 78 children with 12 staff; good ratios in all 12 rooms. A total of 10 children?s files were reviewed. Staff files were reviewed on an earlier date through the County of Loudoun, PRCS main office in Ashburn. The children were engaged in the following: science, story time, bathroom breaks, hand washing, Chinese New Year, Random Acts of Kindness, Neighborhood walk, centers within their classroom, snack time, and other organized activities. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation and interview, cleaning materials were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method to prevent access by children. Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (02/16/2018), a spray bottle marked water/bleach was observed on a upper shelf above the sink within Room #5. 2. At the time of observation the spray bottle was not in use and there were a total of 14 preschoolers in the room. 3. Staff stated (during an interview conducted on the date of inspection) that they were instructed to keep the spray bottle out, but on a high shelf in case of the need for immediate use. Plan of Correction: This container shall now be locked up when not in use.
