Today's visit was a renewal inspection. The inspection began at 10:15am and concluded at 1:00pm. There were eleven preschool age present with two staff members and additional support staff were present during the time of the inspection. During the inspection the outdoor area used by children was viewed, the classroom for the preschool children was observed during center time, circle time, and lunch time, two out of three staff records were reviewed, and three agent/officer records were reviewed, five out of twelve children's records were viewed, emergency supplies were viewed, and some policies and procedures were reviewed. Discussion took place regarding background check requirements. The center stated there were no medications for preschool children and there is not currently a MAT certified staff member. Your renewal application has been received in the licensing office and a recommendation regarding the license can be made upon the completion of today's inspection. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-C Description: Based on the inspector's observations, the center failed to ensure the shelter in place location was indicated on the posted map. Evidence: The shelter-in-place location is not indicated on the posted emergency map. Plan of Correction: The shelter-in-place location will be indicated on the posted emergency map in the preschool classroom.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on the inspector's review of the log to record emergency drills, the center failed to ensure two shelter-in-place drills were conducted annually. Evidence: There was only one shelter-in-place drill docuemnted for the previous annual year. Plan of Correction: Two shelter-in-place drills will conducted and documented by the end of this school year to ensure compliance for the 2017-2018 school year.
