Comments:
Thank you for your time and assistance with the unannounced monitoring inspection conducted on January 15, 2020. The on-site inspection was from 10:20 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. On this date, there were 104 children present in seven classrooms and in the care of 16 staff members. Three additional staff members were available to assist if needed. There were 113 children enrolled in the center. All seven classrooms were toured and observations were completed in four of those rooms. There were 10 staff members' records and 10 children's records reviewed. There were nine staff members and seven children interviewed. The medication and medication paperwork were reviewed for five children. Lunch was observed to meet USDA guidelines and consisted of pinto and refried beans, flour tortillas, corn, green salad, and milk. The themes for the week were Healthy Bodies and Sky and Weather. The children had been participating in all types of activities about what it means to have a healthy body. The younger children were enjoying talking about the weather. All interactions between the staff and children were age appropriate and positive. Some of items reviewed and observed during the visit included: free play, art activities, writing in journals, opening circle time, calendar, story time, transitions, outdoor play, bathroom and hand washing procedures, lunch, nap time, first aid and emergency supplies, injury reports, required posted information, documentation of evacuation and shelter-in-place drills, warm water temperature, updated emergency preparedness plan and updated injury prevention plan.
