Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 5/16/2024 from 11:48 am-12:58 pm. There were 11 children supervised by 2 direct caregivers. The home, 2 caregivers records, 5 children?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed engaging freely. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Please submit your plan of correction within 5 business days for it to be included on the website. Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-240-A
Description: Based on observation, equipment outside the family day home were not maintained in a safe condition.

Evidence: A blue playground swing outside was cracked in three places.

Plan of Correction: The damaged blue swing has been removed and will be replaced with a new swing. Date of Correction: 5/27/24

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-430-B
Description: Based on observation, the provider did not ensure accordion expansion gates and pressure mounted gates were not used as protective barriers at stair openings.

Evidence: A pressure-mounted gate was observed on steps in the kitchen leading down to the living room playspace.

Plan of Correction: A hardware mounted gate has been ordered and will be mounted at the stairs in the kitchen. New gate will arrive and be mounted on 5/27/24.

Standard #: 8VAC20-800-600-B
Description: Based on observation, infants and toddlers shall not spend more than 30 minutes of consecutive time during waking hours confined in a crib, play, pen, high chair or other confining piece of equipment.

Evidence: Child #5 was observed in a swing for 36 minutes (11:48 am-12:24 pm).

Plan of Correction: Toddlers and infants will not spend more than 30 mins, in any indoor swing, play pen, crib or highchair. Date of Corrections: Immediate. 05/16/24
