A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 4:25pm to approximately 6:15pm. There were a total of 31 children in care in the direct care of four staff. The facility?s site director was present and assisted the inspector throughout the inspection. During the inspection, children were observed completing homework in their designated area in the cafeteria, having quiet, reading time in the gym, and later transitioning to free-play activities. The staff were observed having positive interactions with the children and parents. The menu was posted and today?s afternoon snack consisted of tangerines and Chex-Mix. All areas of the center including the cafeteria, gym, hallways, bathrooms, and playground were inspected. The center was equipped with toys and supplies and items were available to the children. The following information was reviewed: emergency supplies, injury reports, fire and shelter-in-place drills, daily attendance, menu, required postings and parent agreements. Medication is administered and two emergency medication authorizations were reviewed today. During the inspection, five children?s records and staff information required to be present at the center for staff members were reviewed. There were no violations cited during today?s inspection. The most recent evacuation drill was documented on 11/06/2019. The two most recent shelter-in-place drills were documented on 4/11/2019 and 9/17/2018. The most recent lockdown drill was documented on 9/17/2018. The facility is reminded to conduct the two required shelter-in-place drills before the end of the year 2019 and one lockdown drill for 2019.

A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found.
