Technical Assistance:
Licensing standards reviewed on staff and children files.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on November 14, 2022, from 9am to approximately 10:30am. There were four children present totaling 11 points and the provider. The Inspector reviewed four children?s records and two staff/household records. The Inspectors observed staff and children?s interactions throughout the inspection. Children were observed during free play, handwashing, and snack. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented. The violation is listed on the violation notice issued to the center and were reviewed with the provider at the exit interview.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-800-280
Description: Based on observation and interview, it was determined that the provider did not ensure that potentially poisonous substances, materials and supplies such as, but not limited to, cleaning agents, disinfectants, deodorizers, plant care chemicals, pesticides, and petroleum distillates shall be stored away from food in areas inaccessible to children.
Evidence:
1. In the kitchen, there were 2 bottles of bug/ant/insect killer, 1 can of deodorizer sprays, 1 can of disinfectant spray, and a bottle of disinfectant wipes, on top of the refrigerator beside the children?s cereal.
2. Staff #1 confirmed the 6 bottles of potentially poisonous substances were stored close to the cereal.

Plan of Correction: The provider responded with the following: During the time of the inspection, the provider moved all bottles under the sink which is locked away from children and food.
