Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 from approximately 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM to review supplemental health and safety requirements. The following ratios were observed with a total of 54 children present during the inspection: Early Head Start (1-2 years) - 8 children with 2 staff Early Head Start (2 years) - 8 children with 2 staff Head Start (Threes & Fours) - 15 children with 2 staff Preschool I (Infants ? 2 years) - 11 children with 3 staff Preschool II (Threes & Fours) - 12 children with 2 staff The children and staff were engaged in a variety of activities when the licensing inspector arrived. Children were observed being held and fed, looking at books, playing in the gym, playing outside, taking bathroom breaks and washing their hands and eating lunch. Lunch consisted of beans and rice salad with cheese, corn, pineapples and milk. Later children were observed resting at naptime. All areas of the center including classrooms, hallways, kitchen, bathrooms and playgrounds were inspected. Measurements of resilient surfacing material (mulch) were not taken due to moisture levels. The center was equipped with toys and supplies and items were available to the children. During the inspection, five children's records and five staff records were reviewed. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found. If you have any questions about this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector, Lynn Powers at (804) 662-9790.
