- Technical Assistance:
A Subsidy Health and safety inspection was conducted on July 20, 2018 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. The following child to staff ratios were observed: 2 year olds: 9:2, 3's and 4's: 10:2, Younger school age: 13:1 and Older school age: 8:1. Conversations were held with children and staff. The staff were observed to be engaged with the children in age appropriate activities and to be meeting the needs of the children in care. Lunch today consisted of diced turkey and ham, salad, diced melon, and milk. The licensing inspector reviewed four children's records and five staff records. Emergency drills had been documented. Medication was on site with the required authorizations. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Please complete the "plan of correction" and "date to be corrected" for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it to the licensing office within 5 business days. Your plan of correction should contain 1) steps to correct the non-compliance with the standard(s), 2) measures to prevent the noncompliance from occurring again; and 3) person(s) responsible for implementing each step and/or monitoring any preventive measure(s). Standard #: VENDSUB-000-012-E Description: Based on review of five staff records, the facility did not ensure all staff had obtained CPR and first aid certification within 30 days of the date of employment. Evidence: Staff #3, with a hire date of 05/07/2018, did not have current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid training. Plan of Correction: 1. The employee found to not have a valid CPR/First Aid certification will be scheduled for training. (August 17, 2018)
2. [The] Executive Admin Asst., will collect proof of current CPR/First Aid certification from all new hires. Anyone that does not have a valid certification will be scheduled for training to be complete within 30 days of starting with the agency. (Immediately)
3. [The] HR/Accounts Payable Coordinator will check each new employee packet to ensure that a valid CPR/First Aid certification is include. (Immediately)
4. [The] Director of Program Operations, will edit the New Employee Onboard Policy to include scheduling CPR/First Aid for all new employees, including non-childcare staff, which do not have a valid certification upon hire. (August 3, 2018)
5. [The HR/Accounts Payable Coordinator] will complete an audit of all employee files to ensure all current agency staff have valid CPR certification. A list of all employees not in compliance will be forward to [the Executive Admin Asst.]. (August 17, 2018)
6. [The Executive Admin Asst.] will schedule all out of compliance employees for training within 30 days of receiving the list. (September 17, 2018)
7. Review of CPR/First Aid certification for ALL employees will be added to semi-annual file review. (Ongoing)
