The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced renewal inspection, at which rest time, and activities were observed. Children were observed; and staff and children files and other documentation were reviewed. Forty-three (43) children, aged 3mos-5yrs, were found to be in care with 8 staff. Please contact me if you need further assistance. Thank you for your cooperation. This inspection began at 12:30pm and concluded at 2:45pm.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on review of the classrooms the facility failed to maintain compliance with this standard as required regarding locking of hazardous items. Evidence: In the room shared by the 2-5 year old classes there was a cabinet above the counter that was unlocked, as the locking mechanism was not properly working, that contained sanitizing spray, and air freshener. Also in the same classroom, in the rest room area, there was a jug of bleach sitting on the shelf above the mirrors. Hazardous items are to be locked and inaccessible to the children for compliance. Plan of Correction: Staff immediately moved the hazardous items to a locked area and submitted a maintenance request to fix the lock on the cabinet. Staff will be reminded to check areas for compliance throughout the day.
