An unannounced monitoring inspection was made on 8/22/18. There were 27 children present from four years of age through 11 years with three staff supervising. Five children's records were reviewed. Three staff records had been previously reviewed and one newly hired staff person's record was reviewed on 8/24/18 and the inspection was completed on that date. One emergency medication for a child in care was observed. The inspector arrived at the school at 3:00 pm and departed at 5:00 pm. The children were observed at arrival, during outside time, during snack, and during homework time. There was detailed discussion with the site coordinator about the following: subsidy requirements for documenting arrivals and departures, documentation of allergies for children and the allergy care plans, physician's recommendations for allergies.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on record review, the center failed to ensure that children's records had documentation of complete information required by the Standards. Evidence: 1. The record of children #3 and #5 did not have documentation of a complete address for one of two of the required emergency contacts. Neither had a street/house number to complete the address for the emergency contacts. Plan of Correction: The site coordinator will get the parents to complete the addresses.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-C Description: Based on record review, the center failed to ensure that staff who work directly with children annually attend 16 hours of staff development training that relates to child safety and development and the function of the center. Evidence: 1. Staff #2 and #3 had six of the 16 required training hours completed for the 2017-2018 year used by the program. 2. Staff #1 had eight of the 16 required training hours completed for the 2017-2018 year used by the program. Plan of Correction: The staff along with the child care administrator will ensure that 16 hours of training is completed for this program year.
