Comments:
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced renewal inspection Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 11:30am to 2:31pm. The children were observed getting their pictures taken for picture day, and eating lunch. The children bring their lunch from home. The infants were observed playing on the floor with a teacher, eating lunch, and sleeping. All classrooms were inspected today. The facility?s mini buses and playgrounds were inspected today as well. Ten children?s records and ten employee records were reviewed during this inspection. The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected. Last emergency drill: 09/04/2018 Last shelter-in-place drill: 09/17/2018 Last fire inspection: 4/17/2018 Last health inspection: 12/18/2017 Total enrollment today: 109 Today, the following child to staff ratios were observed: Beach Babies (Infants 6weeks-12 months)-9:3 Beach Balls (Infants 8/9 months- 16 months) -4:1 Toddling Turtles (Toddlers)- 8:2 Tiny Bubbles (Toddlers)- 8:2 Sunny Sailboats (Twos)- 10:2 Jumping Jellyfish (Twos)-14:2 Silly Sandcrabs (Threes)- 7:1 Wacky Waves (Threes)- 17:2 Super Surfers (Pre-K)- 16:2 Lighthouse Room (Pre-K)- 19:2 Surf Shack (School Age)- not present The violations from the previous inspections were checked for corrections. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation on 10/18/2018, the center did not ensure that equipment of the center shall be maintained in a safe and operable condition. EVIDENCE: The bottom seat on the front right row on Bus #1 was not secured to the base of the seat.

Plan of Correction: Will not use that seat. Will repair by the end of the month.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-E
Description: Based on observation on 10/18/2018, the center did not ensure that prepared infant formula shall be dated. EVIDENCE: The bottles of formula for Child #11, Child #12 and Child #13 were not dated.

Plan of Correction: Corrected on site. Bottles were dated by staff. Will follow up with staff to ensure they are following system, even if routine is different (e.g. picture day)

Standard #: 63.2-1720.1-B-2
Description: Based on a review of staff records on 10/18/2018, the center did not ensure that staff obtained a fingerprint based national background check in the required time frame. EVIDENCE: The record of Staff #1 did not contain documentation of the results of a fingerprint based background check

Plan of Correction: Made an appointment today. She will go at 12pm tomorrow.
