Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 10/22/2018 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 11:00am-3:30pm. There were 39 children (infants-11yrs.) directly supervised by 7 staff. The physical plant, 5 staff records, 5 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, drawing, tracing patterns, learning about objects that sink and objects that float, playing with magnetic tiles and eating snacks. Diapering and hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Maria Soto at maria.soto@dss.virginia.gov or (571) 835-5058. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. New subsidy requirements became effective on October 17, 2018. The facility has not yet complied with the following requirement: 22VAC40-665-770 Procedures for emergencies. Procedures for the continuity of operations to ensure that essential functions are maintained during an emergency must be included in the emergency response plan. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found.
