Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today November 20, 2018 to determine the facility's compliance with licensing standards. Most, but not all standards were reviewed during today's inspection. The inspection was initiated at 10:00 am and concluded at 1:30 pm. Infants were observed being held, having floor play and napping. Staff read stories, rocked and interacted on the floor with children in a positive manner. Toddlers (Meadow) were in small groups working puzzles, playing with cars, drums and sorting feathers. The two year old class (Forest) played in centers with clay and cookie cutters, water table and house keeping. Staff sat on the floor and read stories and sang songs. Preschool classrooms had a variety of activities that included clay, blocks, sorting activities, matching games and art activities (making place mats). Preschool children also were observed in the Avenues building participating in specials; music class (dancing), art (clay), reading and gym class. A group of children were also participating in ballet class. Later children had time outside before preparing for lunch. Today's lunch consisted of baked potato with cheese, broccoli, peaches and milk. All areas of the facility were inspected to include both buildings and one playground. The facility has age appropriate materials and supplies. The first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies were inspected for both buildings and all floors. Staff interactions with children were positive. The following information was posted: the License, menu, daily schedule, emergency numbers and various parent information. The inspector interacted with staff and children in care. All classrooms were within the required staff to child ratio. Ten children's records and twelve staff records were reviewed. Medications and authorizations were reviewed. Staff have current CPR, First aid and daily health observation training. Multiple staff have MAT certification. The most recent evacuation drill was documented on 10/31/2018. One of the two required shelter-in-place drill for 2018 was conducted on 09/17/2018. Fire inspection: 09/11/2018, Health Inspection 05/21/2018. If you have questions regarding today's inspection, please contact the licensing inspector at 804-662-9758.
