22VAC40-665 STAFF QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted from 10:45am-2:00pm. to review supplemental health and safety requirements. At the time of entrance, 53 children were in care of 9 staff members present. Children were observed engaged in gross motor activities, play with manipulatives, storytime, handwashing and lunch. A selection of 5 staff and 6 children records, medications and other documents were reviewed. A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-665-520-B-11 Description: Based on records reviewed, the record for 1 out of 2 children with a diagnosed food allergy did not include an allergy care plan. Evidence: The record for Child #2 with a diagnosed food allergy to shellfish was missing a written allergy care plan. Plan of Correction: We will request an allergy care plan from the parent.
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-530-4 Description: Based on records reviewed, 3 out of 5 staff did not obtain the required training within 30 days of employment. Evidence: The records for Staff #1 [date of employment: 8/20/2018] , #2 [date of employment: 6/18/2018] , and #3 [date of employment: 9/17/2018] were missing documentation of certifications of first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation Plan of Correction: We will make sure staff complete the training.
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-580-B Description: Based on records reviewed, 2 out of 5 staff did not obtain the required training within 90 days of employment. Evidence: The records for Staff #1 [date of employment: 8/20/2018] and #2 [date of employment: 6/18/2018] were missing documentation of completing the required Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff. Plan of Correction: We will make sure staff complete the training.
