Discussed new subsidy requirements.

A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 10/29/2018 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 11:00am-2:30pm. There were 48 children (infants-4yrs.) directly supervised by 11 staff. The physical plant, 5 staff records, 6 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, listening to stories, attending cooking class, making orange juice and fruit salad, coloring a flag, learning about maps, states, and countries, playing with play-doh, building with blocks and eating lunch. Today's lunch consisted of eggs, peas, carrots, brown rice, pears and milk. Hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. There was an adequate number of staff with current certification in MAT, CPR and First Aid, as well as DHO training. Staff-to-child ratios were in compliance. The center was clean and organized. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice. Please send questions regarding this new requirement to . New subsidy requirements became effective on October 17, 2018. The facility has not yet complied with the following requirements: 22VAC40-665-770. Procedures for emergencies. *Procedures for the continuity of operations to ensure that essential functions are maintained during an emergency must be included in the emergency response plan. 22VAC40-665-500. Operational responsibilities. All staff who work with children must be informed of children?s allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions. A list of all children?s allergies must be kept confidentially in the room or area where children are present. Allergy information is no longer required to be posted.

Description: Based on record review and staff interview, documentation of lockdown drills was found to be missing or incomplete. Evidence: Documentation of a required annual lockdown drill was not on file for the last 12 months.
