On December 13, 2018, between the hours of approximately 10:25 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., an unannounced renewal inspection was conducted at the facility. Twenty-eight (28) children were enrolled and twenty-six (26) children were in the care of seven staff members. Five children's records and five staff members' records were reviewed and/or updated. One child's medication and accompanying authorization form were reviewed. Posted information, safety equipment (first aid kit, flashlight and radio) and available documents were observed/reviewed. The snack provided on this date included cheese, crackers, turkey, pineapple, oranges and water. Lunches were provided by the children's parents. The facility was observed to be clean and supplied with a variety of age/stage appropriate learning and play materials/toys. Program observation was completed. Activities observed on this date included: children's work cycle; art/craft - holiday wreaths; stories; holiday songs; snack; restroom, diapering and handwashing procedures; lunch; naptime; infant care and pick-up/departure of children. Staff/child interactions, behavior guidance and daily routines/transitions were observed. Children's independence was fostered/encouraged and staff members were attentive to the individual needs of the children in care. Discussion on this date included staff/child ratios when age groups are combined (ratio based on the age of the youngest child in the group) and additional information needed regarding Allowable Variance request (resilient surfacing depth compliance with ASTM testing requirements). Previously cited standards violations (inspection date - 9/26/2018) were reviewed for compliance; no repeat violations were cited. No violations of licensing standards were cited during this inspection; substantial compliance maintained. Please contact me if you have questions concerning this inspection, the licensing standards and/or if I may be of assistance to you (540) 430-9262.
