A renewal inspection was conducted with the director and the assistant director. 52 children were in care and the age range of the children was three months to five years old. Ten school children arrived the age range was five years to ten years old. Children were observed during free play, rest and singing holiday songs for the parents. All required paper work was posted. 11 staff records and eight children's records were reviewed. LI went discussed voice tones and positive discipline with both directors. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-210-A Description: Based on interview with the director and staff , not all staff meet program leader qualifications. Evidence Staff A was working as a lead teacher in the two's room does not have documentation of education or experience. Plan of Correction: I will up date all the files and document the staff's education and experience.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation not all carpets were clean condition. Evidence : The carpets in the infant room had a large amount of glitter spilled on them and appeared to be dirty. The staff stated to LI that they did not vacuum the carpets. Plan of Correction: The carpets will be vacuumed today and we will buy a new vacuum.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A Description: Based on observation the staff did not wash children's hands after diapering. Evidence: Staff in the infant room did not was a child's hands after changing a diaper. Plan of Correction: I will address hand washing with staff tomorrow and all infant teachers will be retrained on diaper changing.
