An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 9:45am-11:50am. At the time of entrance, 18 children were in care with 3 staff members present. Children were observed during snack time, playing with play dough and toys, engaged in group activities and dance class. A selection of staff and children records, the physical space, emergency supplies, evacuation drills, attendance records and the emergency preparedness plan were reviewed. Positive interaction was observed between staff and children. The center is clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-D Description: Based on observation, the center did not have one staff member who meets the qualifications of a program leader or program director in each grouping. Evidence: 1. In the lower classroom, Staff #1 with a job title as Teacher Assistant was caring for 7 children and did not meet the qualifications of a program leader. Plan of Correction: We will make sure a lead teacher is present at all times in each classroom.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-G Description: Based on observation, the center did not follow all requirements when children bring food from home. Evidence: 1. 5 children's lunches were in the school closet and had the children's names on them, but were not clearly dated. Plan of Correction: They were dated immediately.
