Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 9:22am-12:15pm. At the time of entrance, 40 children were in care with 10 staff members present. Children were observed playing with legos, working on an art project, playing with puzzles and farm animal figurines, washing hands, diaper changes, playing with home living toys and learning about colors and shapes on a board. A selection of staff and children records, the physical space, emergency supplies, evacuation drills, attendance records, medications and the Emergency Preparedness Plan were reviewed. The site was clean, organized and contained an abundant supply of developmentally appropriate materials. Interactions between the children and staff were positive. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation, equipment of the center inside were not maintained in a safe and operable condition. Evidence: 1. In the Junior Kindergarten classroom, a green chair had a hole the size of a nickel in the right corner of the chair.

Plan of Correction: Equipment was removed from classroom during visit, management will continue to monitor equipment to ensure equipment is in good working order.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: 1. In the Prep classroom, a bottle of sanitizer was inside a higher unlocked cabinet. 2. In the Junior Kindergarten classroom, a bottle containing a cleaning product was inside a closet. The closet door had the key inside the lock.

Plan of Correction: All cleaning substances were in cabinets out of reach of children. Locks were in a locked position. Management will review with staff how to safely and securely lock all substances away.
