An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 2:40pm-4:45pm. There were 66 school-age children directly supervised by 4 staff. The physical plant, 5 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. The cafeteria was found to be clean, safeguarded appropriately, and adequately supplied with equipment and supplies Children were observed participating in group play, coloring, reading books, playing with Legos, doing homework, playing outside, and eating snack. Today's snack consisted of CapriSun-Apple 100% Juice and Cinnamon Rolls. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. There was an adequate number of staff with current certification in MAT, CPR and First Aid, as well as DHO training. Staff-to-child ratios were in compliance. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, cleaning materials were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: In the CASA office, 1 spray bottle of disinfectant cleaner, 1 spray bottle of all-purpose cleaner, and 1 spray bottle of neutral cleaner were observed stored on a shelf inside an unlocked closet. In the cafeteria, 3 bags of VoBan aromatic absorbent labeled: "keep out of reach of children", were observed on top of a desk by the cafeteria's entrance door unlocked and accessible to children. Plan of Correction: Corrected during the inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-G Description: Based on review of medications, prescription medications were not maintained in the original, labeled container. Evidence: Two prescription medications for child A were not in the original container with a prescription label attached. Plan of Correction: We will request the original container for both medications.
