Discussed playground best practices and types of acceptable documentation for staff qualifications.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 1:00 pm-2:30pm. There were 29 children present with 6 staff. The physical plant, 2 staff records, 2 children?s records, medication authorizations, fire and health inspections, policies, and playground were inspected. Children were observed participating in lunch and life skills, setting up mats, table activities and clean-up. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-C Description: Based on record review, a staff member did not obtain and submit the results of a follow-up tuberculosis screening every two years. Evidence: Staff#1 was missing documentation of a current TB test. Test presented was dated 12/2016 and expired 12/2018. Plan of Correction: I will have her get a dr's note.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-E Description: Based on observation, sandbox was not covered when not in use. Evidence: The sandbox on the playground did not have a cover. Administration stated the cover broke and needed to be replaced. Plan of Correction: We will purchase another
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-A Description: Based on staff interviews, staff did not ensure they knew where children were and what they were doing. Evidence; Interview with classroom staff revealed no one knew how many children were present in their care during this inspection. Plan of Correction: I will make sure we do a retraining with all staff
