A complaint investigation was initiated at the facility on 3/11/2019 and continued on 3/25/2019 in response to a complaint received by the Licensing Division on 3/8/2019. The complainant alleged that a staff person yells and curses while at the facility. Investigation, to include observation and staff interviews, determined the complaint to be valid. An exit meeting was conducted with the program director prior to closure of the inspection/investigation.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-400-A Complaint related: No Description: Based upon investigation and staff interviews, the facility has not ensured that in order to promote the child's emotional and social well-being and growth, staff interact with one another to provide needed help, comfort, and support. Evidence: Staff interviews revealed that during the week of March 4-8, staff 1 and staff 2 interacted with each other in the presence of the children with anger. The use of a raised voice and inappropriate and foul language by staff 1 was described. Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following: The facility has mutually agreed for the staff person identified to take a leave of absence. Upon their return they will receive training provided by the facility on positive behavioral interventions that will be documented in their personnel file. All staff will receive training on positive behavior strategies/interventions as part of their new staff orientation.
